is a contemporary mystic who left his body on January 19, 1990. His life and teaching have influenced millions of people of all ages and in all walks of life. He has made a revolutionary contribution to the science of inner transformation, with a new approach to meditation that takes into account the accelerated pace of contemporary life. He gave almost daily lectures to both Westerners and Indians for about 20 years, on every aspect of spirituality and what it means to be human. This resulted in over 360 books of the transcriptions of those lectures, some of which are for sale on this website.
His original “active meditations” are designed primarily to release the stress accumulated in the body and mind in order to facilitate the experience of the state of meditation, without thoughts or tensions. The aim of his work is to create the conditions for the birth of a new kind of human being, which he often described as “Zorba The Buddha“, capable of enjoying both earthly pleasures like Zorba the Greek, and the silent serenity of Gautama the Buddha.
